Baby Sensory -Precious early learning for babies
You are probably aware of a range of different activities for babies in your area, but you may not have heard of Baby Sensory. If you have, then you will know that this is one activity that provides a wealth of ideas for stimulating or soothing your baby from birth to 13 months as well as an all-round sensory experience!
Baby Sensory are recent winners of the whatson4littleones ' BEST BABY DEVELOPMENT CLASS' Award sponsored by Organix.
The main aim of Baby Sensory is to start you and your baby on an exciting journey of discovery, and to have fun! We also hope that you will experience the joy and sense of awe that arises from seeing your baby learn and develop. From your baby's standpoint, she will develop co-ordination, awareness of the world, a love of music and the concentration so needed for further development.
What's really exciting about Baby Sensory is that there are literally hundreds of simple activities that are fun to do with your baby! Baby signing, for example, is a great way to develop speech and language. Just think how you might feel if your baby signed 'milk' or 'tired' long before she began to talk! The result - fewer tantrums and less frustration in trying to tell you what she wants!
Baby signing is just one aspect of the programme. There are also therapeutic activities which will enhance the relationship between you and your baby, such as massage, 'hug & hold', cuddling, rocking, baby whispering and dance. There are also lots of other simple, but effective techniques which can be done almost anywhere, and at anytime, to soothe a fretful, frustrated or colicky baby. And, if your baby is on her feet, then she will enjoy soft gymnastic games, balls, balloons and bouncy activities which will foster a love of sports in later life!
All activities and experiences are accompanied by music. From Mozart to Rock and Roll, there is something to suit every baby and every occasion! There are also some great poses, swings and positions you can use when dancing with your baby and some exciting ways to manipulate bells, chime bars and shakers! And, if you are still not convinced, then how about a magical light show using fibre optics, pom-poms, tickly feathers, bouncy glow balls, silky scarves, textures and scents, pebbles, bubbles, a water splash or a puppet show? And that's just for starters!
Routine is everything, so we have a beginning, a middle play time (20 minutes), where you and your baby can interact with others, try out the equipment and developmental materials and gain ideas for home use. The session usually ends with an action song, baby exercise and a therapeutic or visual activity. Other than play time, each activity lasts about three minutes, which gives us plenty of opportunity to introduce a whole host of different experiences in each weekly session. The atmosphere is very welcoming, friendly and informal too, which may help to break the ice for anyone who might otherwise feel a little nervous.

Experience
Vicky is a registered nurse in learning disabilities (RNLD). She first realised that a career in a caring profession was her calling many years ago after spending time volunteering for a charity called Contact A Family. Vicky was involved in helping out at a play scheme that the charity ran during the summer for children with disabilities and their families.
After completing A-Levels Vicky spent some time working with the elderly before attending university to study nursing. During her studies Vicky had the opportunity to experience a range of care settings that included a nursery and a special education school. She also worked for a time in a respite home that provided nursing care to children with learning disabilities and associated health problems.
Since qualifying Vicky has mainly worked with adults with learning disabilities and health problems, but has always longed to return to working with children.
Vicky became a mum in 2007 to her son, Dylan, and discovered Baby Sensory classes run by Steph Harrison in Wirral. They provided a fantastic bonding experience for her and Dylan. Vicky has always been impressed by how well he responded to the variety of activities and loved watching him develop throughout each term.
Vicky is now delighted to have the opportunity to run her own baby sensory classes!
Vicky is delighted to announce that she is running some Babys First Christmas Parties - Please poster below for all information!

Hereford Babies get top marks on First School Report
Parents in the Hereford area have recently participated in a national research project by award winning baby development company, Baby Sensory. Babies attending the Baby Sensory classes in Hereford, run by Vicky Chubbs, did particularly well. They were all able to complete more of these tests than the norm for their age.
Each baby performed a series of 99 activities designed to test their abilities by comparison to recognised baby development milestones. The tests were grouped into categories such as physical, language, thinking and symbolic play and parents have been provided with a detailed report showing how well their babies did.
Hereford mum, Georgina Denney was particularly proud of her daughter Jamila, who was only 9 months old when she completed the tests. Jamila did particularly well on the social emotional tests where she exhibited skills which babies generally develop when they are 12 months old. Georgina commented "We have been going to Vicky's Baby Sensory classes for 6 months and Jamila gets excited as soon as we get out of the car at the venue. I am sure that the classes have helped Jamila's development. It is great for her to socialise with the other babies."
